Why do I need to create a profile?
Creating a profile allows you to track your progress, and lets us keep track of MAGgys you’ve earned.
What is a MAGgy?
A MAGgy is a little character that MyAlfondGrant uses to make the MyPlan activities fun and rewarding. Collect all 12!
How do I know if my child has an Alfond Grant?
Babies born as Maine residents on or after January 1, 2013 are automatically awarded the Alfond Grant. It was awarded on a more limited basis for Maine babies born in 2008-2012. Click here for more information on eligibility.
How can I add to the Alfond Grant so there’s even more money for my child’s future education?
The Alfond Scholarship Foundation has invested the $500 Alfond Grant on behalf of all eligible Alfond Grantees. Families who wish to make their own contributions to their child’s future education need their own account.
What are the DO tasks about?
The DO tasks give you a whole bunch of ideas of the kinds of things that, as a parent, you can DO to help your child’s future. Some of these are things you can do on your own, some are things you do with your child, some are things you might do at school. All of them aim to create opportunities for you to support your child’s growth and create a foundation for their future success.
What are the SAVE tasks about?
The SAVE tasks encourage families to save what they can for their child’s future education. The $500 Alfond Grant is a seed. Families can also set aside money for their child’s future education – remember, you need your own account to do that.
What are the LEARN tasks about?
The LEARN tasks share information with parents in bite-sized pieces to help them understand what college is and how to pay for it. The “College 101” tasks are short readings that share basic information. The “College 201” tasks are short readings that include a quiz to test knowledge. And the “College 301” tasks are digital learning opportunities.
